All posts and discussions I see regarding this which are all very dated now, state that the reader will need to have Adobe Acrobat installed on their machine - I'm wondering if that is still the case or whether they can now be viewed in browsers?
If not, does anyone know of a 3rd party tool which will allow their clients to view online with full interactivity? Try publish online. Use Publish Online to publish your InDesign documents. First, they are visible as usual; after editing, saving, closing, quitting, opening again, the effects are invisible also in overprint preview though the adjustments are active. Every attempt to bring back the effects correctly fail. Any idea? I however managed to figure out the problem differently. I just opened up the edit options in Acrobat and added a link to the video in the exported pdf.

The only solution offering a temporary fix was with the file that disables the asynchronous export. However, if your company has a strict IT policy, you might not be able to place that file in the right folder, since you need administrator rights.
So, another workaround is to make an Indesign book file, import your indesign file, and export via the book. This also disables the asynchronous export and delivers a perfect pdf. PDF support inside browsers differs per browser. Recommend your clients to view your file with Acrobat Reader. It has always been, and still is, free. HyperLinkPageItemSource is the "class". Once that said, i feel like you are misunderstanding the "hyperlink" object in InDesign Scripting.
If you want to add a hyperlink, you need to specify or add both a destination and a source.
